Responsibilities for Welder:

The responsibilities for the job of Welders are as following.

  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on truck unit frames, bodies, and metal parts.
  • Diagnose and repair cracks, breaks, and wear on vehicle and component structures.
  • Fabricate and modify custom parts, panels, and reinforcements as needed.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to schedule and prioritize repair work.
  • Assist in general vehicle maintenance tasks when required.
  • Maintain accurate service and repair documentation through the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Request and manage necessary tools, consumables, and spare parts for jobs.
  • Conduct daily inspections of workshop tools and equipment to ensure safety and readiness.
  • Ensure all welding work meets company quality, safety, and compliance standards.

Requirements for Welder:

The requirements for the job of Welders are as following.

  • NZ Certificate in Welding (Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous automotive or heavy vehicle welding experience is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems and experience logging maintenance work digitally.
  • Class 4 Driver’s Licence preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication plans.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Must currently reside in New Zealand and hold valid work visa, residency, or citizenship.

Skills and Knowledge Desired:

  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills.
