Job Description
WA College of Agriculture – Denmark (WACOA – Denmark) is seeking a dedicated and practical Gardener Handyperson to support the maintenance and presentation of our unique educational environment. This is a 15-month fixed-term, part-time (0.5 FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2026. The role plays an important part in ensuring the school grounds are safe, functional, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.

WA College of Agriculture – Denmark is a 450-hectare working farm and secondary education facility for Year 10, 11, and 12 students. The College provides agricultural-focused education and training, including Australian Curriculum courses, WACE courses, and Certificate II qualifications across several industry areas such as Agriculture, Automotive, Engineering, and Equine.

Responsibilities
- Maintain school grounds, including turf areas, garden beds, shrubs, and landscaped spaces
- Care for and manage hard landscaping features such as courts, paving, and pathways
- Ensure gardening facilities, tools, and equipment are maintained in good working condition
- Assist in creating a safe, tidy, and visually appealing outdoor environment
- Work collaboratively with the Facilities Resource Coordinator
- Develop and follow safe work procedures
- Undertake risk assessments related to gardening and maintenance tasks
- Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation
- Contribute positively to the school’s culture and learning environment
Requirements
- Relevant experience in gardening, grounds maintenance, or handyperson duties
- Ability to meet Work Health and Safety requirements
- Valid Working With Children Check
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a Screening Clearance Number
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or valid visa with work rights
- Ability to meet additional eligibility and training requirements outlined in the Job Description Form
