Responsibilities for Dairy Farm Assistant:

The responsibilities for the job of Dairy Farm Assistants are as following.

  • Assist with daily milking routines, including shed preparation, operation of milking machinery, and post-milking cleaning.
  • Feed livestock according to farm guidelines and monitor herd health.
  • Identify and promptly report any signs of illness or injury in animals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in animal housing, sheds, and milking areas.
  • Help with fencing, irrigation checks, and other maintenance tasks.
  • Support during seasonal activities such as calving, herd movements, and feed preparation.
  • Follow all health, safety, and biosecurity protocols to protect livestock and staff.

Requirements for Dairy Farm Assistant:

The requirements for the job of Dairy Farm Assistants are as following.

  • Minimum of 6 months’ experience in dairy farming or Level 1 New Zealand Certificate/secondary school education.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual farm tasks.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to handle livestock confidently and safely.
  • Commitment to learning and following standard farm procedures.

Skills and Knowledge Desired:
