Responsibilities for Airport Duty Officer:
The responsibilities for the job of Airport Duty Officers are as following.
- Supervise all airport customer handling areas including check-in, boarding gates, transit, and arrivals
- Guide and assign duties to staff pre-flight; conduct debriefings post-flight
- Assist in handling irregularities such as invalid travel documents or denied boarding cases
- Make informed decisions regarding excess baggage charges and waivers
- Liaise with immigration, customs, security, and other airport stakeholders to ensure smooth operations
- Implement Gulf Air’s policies during delays, ensuring affected passengers receive timely support
- Monitor the performance of handling agents and ensure compliance with Gulf Air’s standards
- Enforce strict adherence to safety and security procedures at all times
- Oversee procedures related to lost, found, and damaged baggage
- Ensure staff present a professional appearance and maintain uniform standards
- Manage and maintain adequate stock levels of operational stationery
- Deliver exceptional service to VIPs, unaccompanied minors, and special needs passengers
- Communicate with senior management regarding upgrades and oversales
- Coordinate with Virtual Coupon Record Systems for rerouting in case of missed connections
- Oversee accurate catering figures to minimize waste
- Motivate ground staff to enhance ancillary sales
- Regularly monitor ramp activities and address safety issues
- Review Ground Safety Reports and consult with the Airport Manager for appropriate actions
- Perform other duties as delegated by the Airport Manager
Requirements for Airport Duty Officer:
The requirements for the job of Airport Duty Officers are as following.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in airport or airline operations
- Ordinary National Diploma or equivalent academic qualification
Skills and Knowledge Desired:
- Strong knowledge of airport and ground handling operations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Calm and decisive under pressure
- Familiarity with safety, security, and compliance standards
- Ability to manage relationships with internal teams and external agencies
- Attention to detail and a proactive attitude
- Customer service excellence, particularly with VIPs and special assistance passengers
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with airline systems like SSCI and VCRS
