The British Council is offering an exciting opportunity for passionate and qualified English teachers to work as Freelance Teachers of English in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This role focuses on delivering high-quality English lessons to primary school students in Uruguay through remote teaching. Responsibilities
As a Freelance Teacher of English, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality English lessons aligned with British Council and partner-specific standards.
- Teaching synchronous online classes from the remote teaching center in Buenos Aires.
- Coordinating with classroom teachers and managing asynchronous activities and feedback through digital platforms.
- Monitoring student progress and providing regular, timely feedback to support learner development and autonomy.
- Completing feedback on the CREA platform up to 24 hours before each lesson.
- Adapting to academic and operational changes during the academic year as required by clients or the British Council.
- Actively engaging in professional development and performance management initiatives.
- Supporting safeguarding, child protection, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), and health and safety policies.
- Contributing to the promotion of UK culture and strengthening relationships with students and stakeholders.
- Assisting with local marketing initiatives and delivering excellent customer service.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Legal right to work in Argentina.
- Minimum of 2 years post-certificate teaching experience.
- Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert TESOL (120 hours + practicum) or equivalent qualification.
- High level of English proficiency (C1 level or above).
- Experience teaching one or more of the following groups:
- Primary students (ages 6–10)
- Lower secondary students (ages 11–14)
- University or vocational students (ages 18–25)
- Adult learners (18+)
- Willingness to provide academic transcripts or certificates if shortlisted.

- Delta Modules, a first degree, or a BA in Education, ELT, or an equivalent teaching degree (desirable).
