Welder Jobs in Australia. Thornton Engineering is seeking skilled and trade-qualified Welders to join our experienced fabrication team at our Corio, VIC workshops. This is a full-time opportunity for motivated professionals who are passionate about high-quality steel fabrication and want to work on some of Australia’s most iconic infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks using GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), Flux-core, and/or SMAW (Stick) processes
  • Interpret and follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) to determine correct consumables and variables
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality, and safety
  • Operate and maintain welding machines, power tools, hand tools, and measuring equipment
  • Produce fabricated components in accordance with drawings and specifications
  • Work collaboratively with boilermakers, welders, and supervisors
  • Identify and report defects, faults, or safety issues
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welder) or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a welder qualification test
  • Strong experience in GMAW (MIG) welding
  • Experience in TIG, Flux-core, and/or Stick welding (advantageous)
  • Experience welding stainless steel (advantageous)
  • Ability to read and interpret welding and fabrication documentation
  • Current and valid Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Forklift, Dogman (DG), and/or other high-risk work licences (highly regarded)

  • Advanced welding and fabrication techniques
